500 Calorie Fitness Mindset

If you don’t have the right mindset, nothing else matters.

At 500 calorie fitness we’ve tried to make things as simple as possible, laying out exactly what you need to do to lose weight in 500 calorie chunks. Are you eating the right foods? Are you doing the right amount of exercise?

BUT… one of the most important things you need to do, is get your mindset right.

Too many people start a diet or exercise plan, then give up part way through. They’ve tried all the fad diets but can’t seem to shift the weight.

Maybe they’re lazy or impatient or they’re not seeing results quick enough.

Whatever the reason is, another fad diet isn’t going to solve it, because what they need to do is work on their mind. What is the motivation behind wanting to lose the weight? Do they really want to lose the weight at all, or are they actually quite COMFORTABLE as they are?

I’ve emphasised comfortable because its important to bare this in mind. Comfortable means that you don’t love where you are right now, but you’re not unhappy enough to do anything about it.

A lot of people are comfortable.

To break out of this, and open up the rest of the 500 calorie fitness world to you, you need to work on your mindset.

You need to build persistence, perseverance and patience. Visualisation and meditation are great tools to help you work towards this.

Picture what it is you want to achieve. How much weight do you want to lose? What new clothes will you buy? Then picture yourself doing the 500 calorie exercises, and eating the 500 calorie meals that will help to get you there.

Lay it all out in your mind so that it looks and feels REAL.

Then set yourself a 30 day challenge. If you can’t do 30 days, set yourself a 3 day challenge (!) start small. Pick something and commit to doing it over those days.

Write it down. It can be really small. I’m going to walk an extra 500 steps today.

Completing the small challenge that you set for yourself will help to build your confidence and motivation, which will empower you to take on a bigger, bolder 30 day challenge next time round. Maybe you commit to eating one of the recipes from 500 calorie fitness for 30 days in a row.

Another trick you can use during your meditation or visualisation is affirmation. Things that you can read out, or say aloud that help to bridge the gap between where you are now, and where you’d like to be, and start transforming them into reality.

For instance, stand in front of the mirror and say “i’m feeling thinner and healthier everyday”.

These things help to make your journey real, and will keep you on the right track. Next time you reach for something outside the realms of your 500 calorie fitness plan, a little voice in the back of your mind will be saying “I’m feeling thinner and healthier… and it’s because i’m sticking to the plan”.

This great video expands on these themes:

There are a number of things that you can build into your daily routine that will help you keep your mindset on check.

You can use power poses, refer regularly back to your goals, visualise your end state.

With the right mindset and a good plan you’ll be able to overcome any obstacle.
